Just as the Core Collection of 150 titles offers you a broad foundation in the literary types or genre, the Bookfolios for each title are similarly designed to provide choices that reflect a wide range of your students' interests and instructional needs.  You may choose to select titles and their related activities for use with the whole class, with a group, or with individual students. Or you may choose to select a title for whole class instruction to introduce a genre to be followed by an individualized approach to other titles in the genre.  Each Bookfolio also includes resources for your own background information needs.  These resources include the following:

Story Summary: Information included in the story summary was designed to help you determine the appropriateness of a book's content for use by a student or group of students, for integration into the curriculum, or for featuring a particular genre.  The summary paragraph briefly describes the story's  major events, characters, and setting.

Read-aloud Recommendation: Our book reviewers selected a chapter from each book that you can use to introduce students to a book, a genre, or an author, and to add to your own read-aloud collection.  This chapter is meant to be read aloud by you for the purpose of motivating students to read the book.  

Answer Key for Multiple-choice Questions:  The twenty multiple-choice questions included in each Bookfolio are designed to check your students' recall of story events.  Students complete the questions off-line by either circling the correct response or writing the response letter on a separate sheet of paper.  For subscribers an easy-to-use response form is available as a Bookform in the Teacher Center.

Users' Activities:  To capitalize on your expertise and your own classroom experiences with the titles included in the Core Collection, we encourage you to send us your most successful and proven activities to share with other teachers.  These activities will be available to visitors to our site and to our users in the Teacher Center as an extended part of each Bookfolio.
